More recently it became known that the stores Windows Store and Windows Phone Store now has a large number of fake applications that are misleading and cause them to inadvertently spend their money. It seems that Microsoft still reacted to it and start to act. Until today, when you type in the search box Windows Store, for example, VLC, you would get a list of several applications with the same name and description, but only one of them is present. Today placement policy applications in Windows Store and Windows Phone Store has been changed, that would solve this problem.
Following changes were made:
- name should accurately reflect the functionality of the application;
- applications should be classified into categories that reflect its functionality and objectives;
- Icons must be differentiated to avoid similarity with other applications.
These changes apply to all new applications, as well as existing ones, which will be updated. Since the introduction of these changes has been removed for more than 1,500 fake applications. According to Microsoft, developers, whose programs violate the above provisions, received notice of it, and most of them agreed to make the necessary changes.
