Vulnerability in routers allows hackers to crack Wi-Fi at the first attempt

Usually, the hacker attack on the wireless router requires a lot of password attempts. But not if you are using a new technique, open the experts from the Swiss company 0xcite. Found in some chips vulnerability allows you to bypass the protection system Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) and gain access to someone else's Wi-Fi network in a matter of seconds.

Instead, many attempts selecting PIN-code for the access point, which can take hours, requires only one attempt, based on some calculations offline. Once you are ready to attack, gaining access to the router takes literally seconds.
According to Anti-malware , based randomization attack laid weak or lack thereof in the formation of a key that is used for authentication of hardware PIN-code in some embodiments of WPS. Any user can quickly gather enough information to calculate the PIN and implement an unregistered connection. Given that the correct PIN is calculated, rather than brute force is selected, a new type of attack is completely invulnerable against computer security systems.
Previously, it was necessary to carry out burglars 11,000 guesses on what was required to spend about 4 hours. A new type of attack to determine the PIN-code offline, and only then carry out the password. Author of a new method of hacking Dominique Bongard argues that the whole procedure needs only a few seconds.
The problem arises in the art protection with chips from Broadcom and another company whose name Bongard did not call. Most of the manufacturers of routers used as the basis for the software that provides the developers of chips, which is why there are vulnerabilities in the finished products. The code is implemented Broadcom weak randomization and the second anonymous producer did not realized no randomization.
A new type of attack on the Wi-Fi was demonstrated at the conference PasswordsCon Las Vegas in 2014.
