Japanese car giant Honda has introduced a new car media system with powerful navigation component called Honda Connect. The system operates on the basis of the latter's Tegra mobile processor company NVIDIA, which also took part in the development.
The new entertainment system from Honda includes car modification Android (Android Car System). In all regions of Europe Honda Connect will be available during 2015 and will be installed in some of the new models of the Japanese automaker, such as Honda Civic (2015), Civic Tourer range of European and modifications CR-V.
As a basis in the Honda Connect uses Android 4.0.4. Infotainment system is equipped with a 7-inch capacitive touch screen, satellite navigation module, AM/FM/DAB - tuner and reversing camera. Rob Csongor, vice president and general manager of the Automotive Division Nvidia, shared information about the Honda Connect:
Honda brings advanced mobile technology NVIDIA's important for us car segment. Processor Tegra, working under control of Android, an open, flexible entertainment platform. Our system integrates the world of smartphones and the automotive industry with the help of specialized applications, but most importantly, it does so in such a way that driving becomes safer.
The representative of NVIDIA Alan Hall told the details of the new system, stressing that during its development was taken into account experience with the usual Android-tablet, and it should especially like the car buyers. While Honda Connect will not be closed to user-generated content: the system can work with any applications that are used to set the users on their smartphones and tablets.
NVIDIA and Honda held a demonstration of the new system Connect earlier this month at the Paris Motor Show. At the same time, both companies declined to comment on the timing of release media systems in other markets.
