Back in March, Apple demonstrated a highly publicized infotainment system CarPlay for cars. Months passed, but so far only a few models in 2014 from manufacturers such as BMW, Ford and Mercedes offer its support in their media systems. Unfortunately, for most consumers a brand new car is out of the price range.
Fortunately, CarPlay will also be available through third-party providers of entertainment systems, such as Pioneer, which promise to install optional software shell CarPlay into existing models of audio systems.
As already mentioned, CarPlay available on older models, but the current system Pioneer, as set out in the Mazda 2 (2010), there is no problem. In other words: CarPlay is not something out of reach and it is available for the more adventurous users who are willing to upgrade the important controls irrespective of the preloaded.
Those who have not yet faced the automotive infotainment OS from Apple, will be pleased to hear that its interface is mostly identical to what we got with firmware iOS 8. One of the most valuable features is the availability of applications CarPlay Apple Maps. It's a complete car navigation system with the advantage of using a service from Apple. CarPlay can also make calls (via dual mobile device) is only necessary to mention the name of the user that the system has made an outgoing call. Inbox car platform carefully reads for you, and, if necessary, propose to dictate the answer. Thereby CarPlay unloads the driver from having to be distracted by extraneous actions and focuses his attention on the road.
List of Media Systems Pioneer, which will receive a firmware update with integrated CarPlay, includes model receivers AVIC-F60DAB, AVIC-F960DAB and AVH-X8650BT. A new assembly equipment of the same series will be available pre-loaded update with CarPlay from December this year.
