Last week, the Office for the registration of patents and trademarks issued United States patent of Apple, which describes the operation of the voice assistant Siri on devices running OS X. Today it became known more details about the role of Siri in OS X. As you know, Siri for Mac will have much more functionality than iOS. According to the description in the patent, to run Siri on a Mac can be a number of ways: by voice command, enter the specified gesture on the touch surface of the device, a gesture with the mouse or through a separate icon in the Dock.
One interesting feature of Siri for OS X is to recognize the location of the cursor on the display, which will allow a better understanding of the user requirement at the moment. As an example, browsing through the gallery of photos, you can ask to change the sort order or arrange all your photos by date.
Working on the computer, we often run only one application or several, but consistently. In this case, Siri can be your "third hand": working with one application, you can ask Siri in parallel to do anything else. For example, while you work with text, you have the opportunity to ask Siri to find the desired image on the Internet.
Unfortunately, it is not known when to wait for Siri in desktop computers. Note that Microsoft also plans to integrate Cortana in Windows.
