As the resource ITWire, the number of Android-devices infected with malicious software, exceeded the number of personal computers based on the operating system Windows. It should be noted that we are talking only about devices connected to mobile networks. This question took Research Laboratory Kindsight Security Labs of Alcatel-Lucent. According to information received, the number of infected Android-devices in the first six months of 2014 increased by 14%, which shows twice as much growth as compared with the previous year. At the moment, for the first half of this year, 15 million (0,65%) Android-devices are infected with malware that is largely more than 11.3 million (0.55%) of the devices at the end of 2013.
According to the report, in mobile networks 60% of infected devices run on Android, and the remaining 40% are laptops based on Windows, connect to the network using a smartphone or mobile modems. In this case, the total number of infected devices based on Windows Phone, iPhone and BlackBerry reaches a value less than 1%.
"Android smartphones are the easiest target for malicious applications. At the same time on Windows laptops remain a prime target for professional cybercriminals," - said Kevin McNamee, head of security and the director of Alcatel-Lucent Kindsight Security Labs.
In most cases, malicious applications are hidden under the guise of normal programs and games that Android-users download from a third-party app stores or untested resources. Such applications often focus on "stealing" your personal information or sending paid SMS-messages.
Malicious software has been found in the list of 20 most popular Android-applications, four of which are remotely monitored the user's location, its connection and browser history.
