Toshiba stops production of consumer PCs and notebooks

The past week was marked by the appearance of a message from a major Japanese computer maker Toshiba, which has decided to curtail the activities of the computer unit to produce computers and laptops for the consumer market.
Toshiba прекращает выпуск потребительских компьютеров и ноутбуков

Due to a policy aimed at obtaining and increase profits, the company recognized the need to restructure the industrial segments corporations and decided to get rid of one of the least profitable units. However, with regard to the corporate segment, where everything remains unchanged: for business-class Toshiba will continue to develop and produce new devices that have already established themselves and bring substantial profit.
Toshiba will accelerate the restructuring of its computer business to focus on more profitable B2B-segment. This includes the reduction in the supply of computers for the consumer market, including refrain entirely from distribution devices within the B2C model in some countries. These steps are expected to provide an increase in the company's profits in the future. As for the corporate segment, Toshiba will continue to find and attract new clients, as well as expand the range of products, from workstations to tablet computers, using well-established sales channels and offering new solutions to our business partners.
Because of the coming changes nearly 1 000 people will lose their jobs, and the company will lose this year about $ 332 million.
