Apple has signed a major deal with Samsung for the supply of solid-state drives, the newspaper The Korea Times. This agreement will further enhance the semiconductor business of the Korean company.
The signed agreement we are talking about deliveries to California corporation newest SSD-drives that are based on flash memory chips with technology 3D V-NAND. Storage devices are designed for the latest generation of laptops MacBook with Retina display , Apple presented last week.
"Samsung has reached an agreement with Apple to supply solid-state drives based on three-dimensional flash 3D V-NAND. The transaction value is estimated at several billion dollars" - reports The Korea Times. According to the publication, production of disks will be performed at the factory Samsung, located in the Chinese city of Xi'an. Deliveries volumes of SSD are not reported.
Solid State Drives Samsung Series 3D V-NAND are characterized by high speed and reliability, making them an ideal solution for 12-inch MacBook. It is known that the South Korean giant is currently the only manufacturer of memory type 3D V-NAND.
