Facebook launches new function On This Day, allowing to remember what happened in the life of the user on a particular day a few years ago. This was reported in the company's official blog.
The user can see the pictures of the social network, or status, which he published, for example, five years ago. Contents of past years will only be displayed to the user, but it can share it with your friends by posting in his belt. Also, subscribe to the social network offers daily reminders to check what happened on this day in other years.
On This Day notable because its algorithm is designed so as not to recall events associated with undesirable emotions. Thus, the function will not show positions where marked man, with whom the user is in a relationship, and then parted. Also will not be displayed positions with friends who have passed away.
Facebook said that "inspired" application Timehop with a similar option, which allows to collect their activity for a particular day of the past on various social networks, including Facebook ,, Instagram, Flickr, Dropbox, and scored 6 million downloads. Function testing in the company began in 2010.
At the time of publication of the post option was not available for Russia. The international launch of On This Day is expected in the coming days. To use the service, you must go to the page https://www.facebook.com/onthisday. The function will appear in the menu, search, news, social network applications for iOS, Android, mobile and desktop versions of the service.
