Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+: more powerful CPU, more powerful GPU and faster Wi-Fi

Qualcomm suddenly introduced the flagship Snapdragon 865+ processor. As with last year's Snapdragon 855 and 855+, there are not many changes in the new chipset compared to the regular Snapdragon 865. The main emphasis was placed on increasing productivity, especially the graphic part, as well as the speed of data transmission over Wi-Fi.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ is equipped with eight Kryo 585 Prime cores operating at a frequency of up to 3.1 GHz. This provides a 10 percent increase in performance over the Snapdragon 865, which uses Kryo 585 cores with a maximum frequency of 2.84 GHz. In addition, the chipset uses an overclocked video accelerator Adreno 650, which allowed to increase the graphics processing speed by 10%.

“By addressing the challenge of 5G scaling, we continue to improve our 8 Series premium mobile platforms, increasing productivity and energy efficiency, and realizing the next generation of photo and video capabilities, games and artificial intelligence. Building on the success of the Snapdragon 865, the new Snapdragon 865 Plus platform will provide next-generation flagship smartphones with improved features. ”- Alex Katusian, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Mobile Communications

Another distinctive feature of the chipset is support for the new Wi-Fi 6E standard with frequencies up to 6 GHz, which allows data transfer at speeds up to 3.6 Gb / s. There is also support for the most current version of Bluetooth - 5.2.

In all other respects, the Snapdragon 865+ is identical to the usual Snapdragon 865: support for 5G, up to 16 GB of RAM LPDDR5 with a frequency of 2750 MHz, 4K-screens with a frequency of 60 Hz or Quad HD + with a frequency of 144 Hz, Snapdragon Elite Gaming technology.

It is already known that the Snapdragon 865+ will be installed in the upcoming announcement of the gaming smartphones ASUS ROG Phone 3 and Lenovo Legion.
