The new processor Apple A8, which debuted in the flagship iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, over the weekend appeared in the database cross-platform benchmark Basemark X from the Finnish developer Rightware. Testing was carried out as part of the processor of the iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution 1334h750 pixels. Despite the fact that during the presentation of 9 September the company has promised to increase productivity by 20% compared to the previous generation, a significant increase in the final result did not happen: the new chip scored 21,204 points 20,253 points against the processor Apple A7.
For comparison, Samsung Galaxy S5 with Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 801 graphics accelerator Adreno 330 and Full HD-TV in the same benchmark scored 23 501 points.
Apple A8 is a dual-core processor, manufactured on 20 nm process and runs at 1.4 GHz. In addition to the iPhone release in 2014, the chip is expected to be installed in the new plates, in particular, in the iPad Air 2 and the new iPad mini with a Retina-display.
