Sony refused to 2K-display: battery life is more important

Online debate continues regarding the optimal resolution for display of mobile devices. Some believe Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) - the most suitable panels for smart phones with screens 5.6 inches, while others decided to stay on the Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels). So, Sony has followed Apple and did not use a super-high resolution screens in their phones.According to the Japanese, a higher resolution, compared with what is already in use today, is not as important as battery life.

While some manufacturers have pursued ultra-high resolution, going everywhere with Full HD to 2K, at Sony decided that on devices with screen sizes up to 8 inches enough 1080p.Increasing the number of pixels on the screen 5-inch smartphone, according to Sony, is not necessary for several reasons.
Firstly, on such a small screen the human eye in most cases does not distinguish details of the image to such an extent as to offer higher resolution Full HD. Secondly, for such a high resolution is not available so many ready content for 1080p. Well, and thirdly, Sony believes that even with all else being equal time smartphone importantly the number of points on the screen.
That is why a new smartphone Xperia Z3 uses the same Full HD-resolution as the previous model Xperia Z2. Since the company decided not to participate in the race for the pixels, while the work of this smartphone was increased to two days than the few competitors can boast. For comparison Z2 under similar conditions held only 1.4 days, although he had a little more capacious battery (3200 mAh vs. 3100 mAh). Sony believes that the priorities are set correctly, and consumers will be grateful to her for longer battery life.
It is believed that the new smartphone iPhone 6, which will be officially launched on September 9, would also not display Quad HD. Resolution flagship is rumored to be 1334 x 750 pixels .
