Immediately after the official details about the new OnePlus Buds wireless headphones appeared, the well-known tech blogger Markus Brownley from the YouTube channel MKBHD published an exclusive interview with the co-founder of OnePlus. During the video, both the company's new headphones and the expected OnePlus Nord smartphone were shown live for the first time.
Most of the video focuses on the cost of manufacturing smartphones. During the conversation, Karl Pei said that installing NFC costs about $ 4, but to achieve protection against water according to the IP68 standard will cost about $ 15. According to the representative of OnePlus, obtaining an IP certificate is not only about installing special gaskets in the case to prevent water from entering. In fact, this process is much more complicated and requires the purchase of special instruments for conducting tests, searching for appropriate specialists and additional time for all necessary tests.
The most interesting thing is that throughout the interview Karl Pei was in the new OnePlus Buds headphones.
As you can see in the picture above, Buds really resemble Apple AirPods. Headphones are made in blue, but it is expected that other options will be available.
At the end of the video, Carl Pei showed several prototypes of the expected OnePlus Nord smartphone, and then completely declassified the final version of the design. As expected, it will have a flat screen with a hole in the corner under the dual front camera, and a quad camera unit will be vertically placed behind. Prior to this, the technical characteristics of the device have already been disclosed.
The presentation of OnePlus Nord and Buds will be held in a week, July 21.
