In the approach to combat piracy Microsoft regularly conducts campaigns. So, in 2012, immediately after the release of Windows 8, the software giant offered a significant discount on the OS in a hundred countries. The company also conducts promotions, claiming that using counterfeit software, the user is at risk: the person may lose money in bank accounts or malfunctioning PC and be a party to disseminate inappropriate content or participating in hacker attacks.

Many users prefer to pirated software, they find that they are difficult to calculate, however, argue at Microsoft, in reality it is not. The company is currently taking steps to identify the user, hiding behind a certain IP-address (76.245.7.147), that he said, according to the law.
Earlier this year, Microsoft  share "mystery shopper" that covered 3,000 outlets in 94 cities. According to the survey: 19% of them recommend that users install unlicensed software on their own, or offer "bonus" in the form of a complete set of pirated software for free or for the cost of services for its installation.
