Leading industry technical experts delighted with the PC version of Death Stranding

On Tuesday, July 14, the release of the most controversial game of last year - Death Stranding - on personal computers. The port seems to be just wonderful: it flaunts not only a prettier picture, but also high performance. The work of the developers was praised even by the chief technical experts of the industry from Digital Foundry.

In a new video, DF analysts said that with the release on computers, Death Stranding received a lot of improvements that had a very positive effect on game performance. First of all, the smoothness of the image and gameplay catches your eye after switching from 30 fps on the PlayStation 4 to a frame rate up to 240 frames per second on a PC.

Digital Foundry employees were also pleased with the support of DLSS 2.0 technology, which allows you to play in conditional 4K at a lower native resolution. Experts recommended that you use it if the video card can work with this system - for example, it is better for owners of the GeForce RTX 2060 to turn on the performance mode.

In general, the optimization of Death Stranding allows you to play comfortably even on medium-sized systems. RX 580 and GTX 1060 give out 60 fps at a resolution of 1080p. At the same time, in order to fully experience 4K gaming, it is best to use the GeForce RTX 2080 - even at the highest settings, the video card is capable of stably supporting 60 frames per second.

The only thing that frustrated the technical experts at Digital Foundry was the poor graphics settings in the PC version of Death Stranding. For example, users cannot select a viewing angle, non-standard resolution formats and monitor refresh rate. Analysts recommend using a preset with high settings, since only disabling SSAO and reducing the quality of shadows helps to save resources; complex manipulations to gamers are not available.

Gaming journalists also had excellent optimization of Death Stranding in their reviews of the PC version. On the Metacritic, the port received 86 points out of 100 - four points higher than the original for the PlayStation 4. On the first day, the peak online news on Steam amounted to more than 30 thousand users, it is unknown how many gamers launched the title in the Epic Games Store.
