Apple is developing an operating system for the first electric BMW

Apple and BMW have agreed to cooperate in order to create an operating system for the first production electric car of the German manufacturer - BMW i3. Reported by automobile portal Auto Motor Sport.

Created by the operating system will be tightly integrated with the electronics of the vehicle, which will connect the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch not only to the multimedia system to start navigation, telephone and entertainment functions, but also to the onboard computer BMW i3.
The representative of the BMW, which talked journalists, did not comment on the development of the software platform for the electric vehicle, but noted that the company is in "constant negotiations" with Apple about "topics related to connected cars." It is assumed that due to the cooperation of portable Apple gadgets users can receive on their devices information on fuel consumption, current speed, distance covered, etc.
It should be noted that BMW has long interested beneficial use of Apple products in their vehicles. Not long ago, the Bavarian auto giant announced app for Apple Watch, whereby owners models BMW i3 and i8, using "smart" watches can check the status of the battery, plan a route to warm or cool the interior.
